Creation and the Fall

Page history last edited by Mason Lee Branham 14 years, 1 month ago

Summary of Genesis 1-4:

So, God creates the Earth. He creates water, light, land, day, night, animals, and eventually- man. He made this man in his image and named him "Adam". Later, after taking a rib from Adam, he created a woman, "Eve". They lived in harmony in the perfect Garden of Eden. Just when all seems perfect, a serpent appears and tells Eve to eat of the Forbidden Fruit. She does and gives some to her husband as well. When God learns of this act, he curses: the serpent, Eve and future women, and Adam and future men. Now banished from Eden, Adam and Eve have 2 sons: Cain and Abel. Because of jealousy, Cain kills Abel. God marks Cain so that no one will ever kill him, so that he may wander the Earth thinking of his crime- murder.

Summary of Paradise Lost:

So, there's this guy and he's writing a story. It begins by telling of the 'Fall of Man' and the beginnings of the concept of Death. Then he tells of Satan and Satan's devils, and how God allowed them to live because he planned to use them for a greater purpose (to tempt humans to evil). Moving in to Book 9, Satan creeps into Eden and observes all the animals present. He decides that he will take the form of the snake because he is jealous of the Paradise that Adam and Eve get to inhabit forever. Eve eats the forbidden fruit, Adam follows (not wanting to live without Eve), they run off for 'sexy-time', come back, realize they are naked, feel ashamed, clothe themselves in leaves, and humankind as fallen from Grace.

EGYPTIAN CREATION STORY:

In the beginning, there was nothing but chaotic waters, Nu. From these waters rose Atum. Atum (viewed as neither man or female) gave birth to two children Gods in these chaotic waters. The water was so fierce that it seperated Atum from his kids so he removed his only eye (as seen above) to go out and find them. When they were returned to him, he cried tears of joy. From these tears, man was created. The Gods continued to reproduce and grow and the humans did as well.
